Staghorn Fern
- Pot size: 17cm
- Height: 20cm
Staghorn Ferns or Elkhorn Ferns are unique plants hardly resembling ferns at all. Their green fronds bring to mind deer antlers covered with soft grey down.
In the wild they are epiphytes, growing on trees in humid environments in the rainforests of Australia and Southeast Asia. But they are perfectly happy growing in pots or hanging baskets.
They make great sculptural plants and are sure to be a conversation starter.
Staghorns prefer humid conditions and a bright spot away from direct sunlight.
They like temperatures between 16 and 20 degrees C.
Water regularly with rainwater and keep misted through the week with a plant mister.
Add a little plant food to the water every 2 to 3 weeks through the Spring, Summer and Autumn.
